The president of Somali National Olympic committee Aden Hajji Ieberow and his delegation on Sunday held crucial talks with the president of International sports press association AIPS president Gianni Merlo at the side lines of IOC’s 121st session in Copen Hagen, Denmark.
According to Somali NOC President Aden Hajji Ieberow popularly known as Wiish both sides discussed about the latest activities of Somali sport
which is now under going one of the most difficulty experiences ever.
"We have told AIPS president that even though we are facing unprecedented circumstances, the nation’s sporting activities are on going well and we will do our utmost" Somali NOC president told journalists in Copen Hagen on Sunday evening.
"I can describe Gianni Merlo as the best sports man I have ever met, he loves Somalia very much and in return we are very grateful to him" said Somali NOC president adding that they thanked Gianni Merlo for his always help and encouragement to Somali Sports press association.
"AIPS website and Magazine always comment on Somali sporting activities and that is why we are saying that Gianni Merlo and his AIPS family encouraged Somalia’s sport which is reviving from years of set backs caused by the long-running civil strife in Somalia" president Wiish added.
The Somali NOC president said that Gianni Merlo was very much jubilant at the continuation of Somali sporting activities despite difficulties here in the lawless horn of African country.
"Gianni Merlo praised Somali sporting leaders and encouraged us to do as much as we can what ever it takes to us and that his support is always with us" Somali NOC president said during his press conference in Copen Hagen on Sunday evening.
It was the first time for Somali NOC president to meet The International sports press association (AIPS) boss Mr. Gianni Merlo since he came to power in march this year.
Mean While President of Somali Sports Press association Abdiaziz Godah praised President Gianni Merlo and described him as the greatest helper of Somali sports press association.
"Since he was first elected as AIPS President in 2005 Gianni Melo was helping Somali sports press association and we will never forget his helpful hand and encouragement to us" SSPA president Abdiaziz Godah added
